Have you ever written a fan letter to an author? I penned my first this week, to children’s author Kate Klise, who wrote three of my favorite books in middle school. Letters from Camp, though, was probably the best:
She’s also written tons of books for kids and adults; check them out on their website!
Note: Sarah Klise, Kate’s sister, does her illustrations! They’re an amazing team. I loved these books because they were age-appropriate, but they also had precocious kids who solved mysteries, loved adventures, and the stories are told entirely in evidence! Receipts, journal entries, memos, menus…Kate has thought of every creative way to tell a story, which is inspiring. I wrote her a fan letter this week the old-fashioned way with a stamp and envelope, and she encourages younger fans to do so too on her website, which I also love! What were some of your favorite childhood books?
Yeah, it’s a little weird to write a fan letter at this age (Klise encourages snail-mail correspondence), but hey, I wanted to thank her for influencing my childhood in a positive way!
Isn’t that something to be thankful for?
