“Human rights are women’s rights and women’s rights are human rights” – HRC
Yesterday I and close to 500,000 other ladies, dudes, kids, dogs, from all walks of life marched on Washington to show our support for women’s rights, human rights, refugee rights, LGBTQ rights, etc, etc the list goes on. It was a march of solidarity. It was a gathering of hope. I choked up on the way there, and I choked up on the way back.
The next four years won’t be anything like today, but maybe, on some days, they’ll come close.
Here is a reading list for today while you soak your tired marching legs, drink lots and lots of water, and make plans. Make all the plans:
Here’s a full transcript of Gloria Steinem’s speech to the marchers in D.C. yesterday.
Some gifts for your lady friends on VDAY, or friends who like pink, fancy things.
Speaking of VDAY, I was lucky enough to participate in fundraising and performing Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” for three years in college. February is almost upon us (*gasp!*) and, therefore, VDAY. Learn more about the movement here.
Hate me but I was born a prep and a prep I will always be. J.Crew’s new arrivals have me like *swoon.*
Have a nice Sunday, keep showing up, keep reaching out, keep killing roaches with your Toms boots (just me? ok.).
