It’s cherry season.
Holy cow, my allergies are terrible this weekend. Doesn’t matter what I do, from allergy pills to Flonase, I’m sniffling like crazy. Yes, I have also been listening to Taylor Swift all week on Spotify. Sue me. We all cope with allergies somehow. Mine is air conditioning and T-Swift.
I spent this morning at the Dupont Farmer’s market, which is, by definition a farmer’s market, but crushed with people in expensive athleisure stuffing Whole Foods bags with organic mesclun by the handful. I love it, I hate it – I can’t explain it past that, I guess. I bought two fistfuls of peaches for $4. So it’s still a farmer’s market.
Next weekend is Fourth of July in D.C., and it will be my third, which feels at once completely incomprehensible and super normal, now. Everyone who lives here (except me) skips town, and tourists flood in. My sister will be in town, and I’m excited to show her my favorite spots. Until then, I’ll be slogging through this heat, trying more recipes, and of course, reading all the damn time.
Here’s what’s up with me:
Love this article about how women’s outdoor gear is finally (FINALLY) moving away from the “shrink it and pink it” mindset.
Look at this list of DC pools open to the public to **party**
Probably going to spend the last of my birthday money on this day pack from Marmot. TY REI Sale!
Sneak peek of 2018 fashion trends – one of them is v v on brand! Yay!
Really need Y7 Studio to come to DC.
Thinking of doing a summer recipe roundup – the colors in the season are to die for. Like this blood orange, beet, and fennel salad? Losing my mind.
I read this book every summer without fail. I’m a little addicted to the language, the details, the color. Kingsolver always does it for me. Do you have a book you keep coming back to, especially during the summer?
My obsession with all things Joy the Baker continues, with her wonderful Bon Appetit Grocery List.
My aunt has some Bolesławiec pottery, and I’m really obsessed with the patterns now.
Have a wonderful sunday, pals.
