easy like (sister)

I am writing this extremely pre-coffee, so you’re going to have to forgive me for any typos/residual crankiness. My sister is in town and we brunch reservations at 11:30 – I wanted to get this up before we head out.

Wasn’t this past week crazy? Just me? It felt like every day was long, filled with challenges and moving at a glacial pace. I’m so grateful for this long weekend. It’s Independence Day weekend in D.C., so the streets are filling up with tourists and locals are hunkering down on their rooftops, rosé in hand. Very excited to show Alaine the parts of D.C. that aren’t the Mall. I also applied to an apartment (!!) so stay tuned for lots of moving drama.

I was talking with my friend Emmitt about this, and he brought up a good point: Human began as nomadic people – now moving is like, a great upheaval. Interesting, huh? (This may also be the pre-coffee talking).

I have so many links for you guys this week – maybe it’s the lack of coffee. Have I mentioned I haven’t had coffee?

A reminder that access to wild, unkept, beautiful spaces is a privilege (and the benefits that come with those spaces) for many – but it should be a right for all.

New arrivals at ASOS have me like: this and this and this and this please.

Really sucky S.O.’s will tell you you’re “intimidating” and it’s stupid because it’s not true. Find someone who burns as brightly as you do, and they’ll call you beautiful.

Amazing interactive from NYT about how southern states will suffer the most when global warming takes its toll.

Excited to dig into this: “How Wellness Became an Epidemic”

Hi, someone take me back to Rome and feed me pasta and wine and sunshine please, thanks. I’ll say things like “grazie mille” and “ciao” and it’ll be hilarious.

I know a lot of acquaintances getting hitched, and I can only assume it’s just a matter of time before a close friend ties the knot (how many euphemisms for marriage can we put in a sentence???). So here’s a reminder that a marriage ceremony is a fraction of what your marriage will actually be. (I love that fact.)

Finally, in closing: one of my favorite sci-fi movies is “Contact” and this NYT story is basically about the same thing. EEEEP!

Happy Fourth of July, friends. I hope you get to clutch a hot dog and some beer/wine/cocktail variant this Tuesday, and sit on a blanket with people you really freaking like. Cheers to summer.
