easy like (t-giving)

Can anyone else really, sincerely not believe that Thanksgiving is in a few days? Isn’t this crazy? At times, I feel like 2017 just started – like I was squashing cockroaches in my Foggy Bottom apartment and hoping hoping hoping that DC would start to feel like a home only a few short months ago (in reality, this was in January).

This week, naturally, was a wee bit crazy. But I still have gift guides! One went up yesterday, and the next will go up tomorrow – then two the week after Thanksgiving! They’re what I like to call “ethical” gift guides about companies and brands that put people and the planet first.

Anyway, it’s cold-ish in D.C. this weekend, and I had a weekend full of work stress, Scrabble, and people who make it seem like it’ll all be okay. I made sushi with friends in the middle of the work-week, and it was so good.

Here’s what I want to share with you:

Looking to plan a last minute ski trip? Lift tickets will cost you ($$$) but if you’re committed, Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin as my uncles call it, and “The Legend” as other locals call it) is the best bang for your buck. I skiied on the other side of the mountain at Keystone, Colorado a few years ago, but wished I had ventured to A-Basin for a day.

Really interesting: what listening to podcasts all day is doing to your brain.

I talked about my 5-year plan, but they’re not for everyone! I like this article about what to do in place of a 5-year plan.

This background on pho as a breakfast food only made me love it more.

Molly Yeh makes me miss the midwest – hoping to make this tater tot hotdish soon to make some east coast converts.

Have you read “The Uncounted” from the New York Times this week? The U.S.-led coalition in Iraq and Afghanistan has praised the drone strike program as the most accurate and least deadly to civilians – but actually, more civilians have died in coalition drone strikes than previously reported.

It’s a goal of mine to hike a portion of the Appalachian Trail, and Outside followed a few hikers on their thru-hike from start to finish – it’s such a wonderful compilation.

That’s all from me! Hope you have a relaxing Sunday evening.
