easy like (quiet)

Good morning! It’s rainy and quiet here on my street in D.C. Given that they’re building an entirely new apartment block across the street, this is a blessing. I’m sipping coffee out of a Mizzou mug because yesterday, Mort Walker died, and many of you won’t care, but some of you will. There are days I miss my alma mater more than others, and I think today may be one of the harder days.

My week coming up is so busy that I don’t want to think about it, but today definitely feels like the calm before the storm. So if you’re in the same boat, let’s huddle up this morning and read something good. Here’s what I’ve got:

I actually used Differin for a while before my skin hit a wall (it happens sometimes!) and I really loved how a retinoid cleared up most of my cystic acne. This article is a great introduction to using retinols and retinoids carefully.

There aren’t enough women in our governing systems, and there certainly aren’t enough women of color. Check out Black Women in Politics for a full list of candidates running for election this year – and get out the vote!

I like working out, but I like working out for free even more.

Heavily considering putting on Joan Didion’s biopic/doc from Netflix today.

Are you a Yoga with Adriene fan too? I love her home practices – they’re a nice way to start a workday.

I’m trying out Headspace, and while it’s pretty hard to sit and meditate for me, I can tell it’s something that will ultimately help with my very busy, jumbled mind.

I also really love Hopper for watching flight prices – a former co-worker introduced it to me and it’s really helped me plan for the cheapest plane tickets possible.

Okay, short list today – signing off to get in a bodyweight workout and maybe some errands. I hope you have a great week!
